The Drake House celebrated the Grand Opening of The Drake Closet’s third location last Fall. Centrally located in Sandy Springs, the newest store offers new and gently used women’s clothing, shoes and accessories, with prices ranging from $3-$25.

To help support The Drake Closet’s new store, AWN will be holding a clothing drive during our February and March luncheons. Please considering bringing any used (but in good condition) women’s clothing items that can be donated to this fantastic organization. Ladies fall clothing, coats, shoe and handbags are especially needed. Thanks to everyone for your support!

Services Offered By The Drake House

  • Empowerment Programs – weekly meeting with Family Assessment Manager to develop a personalized empowerment plan; weekly meeting with Career Coach to assist with job search skills and employment opportunities
  • Life Skills Workshops – weekly workshops that provide instruction in areas such as personal finances, health and wellness, organizational skills, nutrition, and parenting
  • Children’s Programs – child care is provided for preschoolers; tutoring is given to elementary students; Life Skills curriculum is taught to middle and high school students
  • Mentoring Support – mothers and school aged children are matched with mentors who provide support, friendship, and assistance with family needs
  • Housing – fully furnished private one or two bedroom apartments provided rent free for 90-180 days.

Clothing donations

Donations of women’s clothing, shoes and accessories are accepted at the stores Tuesday through Saturday between 10:00AM and 3:00PM. These items are provided to our mothers as needed.

Party with Purpose

Awn Service Day At The Drake House

Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Activities: Clean Apartments, Yard Work, Stock the Pantry.

Most recent: Donations from the awn happy hour and march luncheon. The drake house thanks all those that made donations.

Sip & Shop Holiday Social

Network – Wine – Holiday Shopping – Fundraiser

When: November 12th

Thanks to your generosity at the sip & shop and the december luncheon, awn donated 30 gift cards to the families at the drake house. This is a contribution of $450 and is $100 more than last year.

The Atlanta Women’s Network Holiday Social, Shopping & Wine Tasting Networking Event took place on Thursday, November 12th at D’Vine Wine Bar in Dunwoody Village. The event was held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and includes holiday shopping along with a facilitated wine tasting.

Raffle tickets were sold with all raffle proceeds supporting The Drake House. The Drake House provides short-term housing, education and empowerment programs for homeless mothers and their children.

Cuddle Up In Support Of The Drake House!!

When: October 27th

Please bring a new pillow and/or throw blanket to either the September or October luncheon.

As Fall approaches, the pillows and blankets will go to the families currently receiving housing assistance at The Drake House.

The Drake House provides short-term crisis housing, education and empowerment programs for homeless mothers and their children, designed to assist the family in working toward self-sufficiency. AWN is proud to support The Drake House through our Community Outreach initiatives.

A RECEIPT WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE LUNCHEON TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR DONATION. THE DRAKE HOUSE IS A GEORGIA REGISTERED NOT-FOR-PROFIT 501 (C)3 ORGANIZATION.
