Energy Centers

There will be four Energy Centers during networking for WomenUP 2009:  physical, mental, emotional and spitritual. 

We are looking for AWN members to share their expertise in how to maintain energy  in of these areas.  

If you have relevant experience in one fo these areas, please, complete the application and return it to Jennifer Bristol by Friday, February 6. 

One member will be selected to  sponsor the table.  They will act as the discussion facilitator at their table and will sponsor a raffle basket of relevant products and services.   Other applicants may donate to the basket and will be listed as Resources for guests who are interested.

OVERVIEW 
Four Energy Center Tables representing best practices for activating Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual energy

Each Center will:

  • Be sponsored by a single member who has purchased a ticket and is an active member
  • Have 2 easels:
    • One that lists 5 best practices in that field documented from outside sources with the sponsor’s expertise leading (colorful and hand-written) 
    • One with a flip chart where table visitors can list their suggestions
  • Include a resource list of Members who offer particular expertise in those categories.
    • Resource List will be compiled by AWN and will include:
      • Members who volunteer in the Member Capital initiative
      • Members who volnteer as Mentors
      • Members who  submitted an application to sponsor the table but were not selected 

SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL

The member who becomes an Energy Center Sponsor will:

  • Be present at the table from 4:45 until 6:00 PM (or provide an associate to represent them).
  • Prepare a raffle basket that includes:  goods (including books) and certificates for services that relate to the topic and “fun” items such as wine, chocolate etc.  Sponsors can collect donations from other applicants from that topic as well as from outside sources.
  • Facilitate conversation on the topic as an expert or advocate for  the topic.
  • Agree not to solicit people during or after the event.  They must come to the member.
  • Be prepared to provide information about potential competitors.  Each member on the resource list will list a specific area of expertise.  The sponsor must respect the boundaries defined by the list.

The selected Energy Center Sponsor receives the following benefits:

  • Able to share expertise and provide promotional material at the table
  • Be listed as a sponsor of the table with a free quarter page ad in the WomenUP Program
  • Facilitate the discussion to include all best practices listed

Here are some of the best practices AWN believes could be included in each Energy Center.

PHYSICAL

  • Exercise
  • Nutrition- diet and supplements
  • Sleep not just 5-6 hours
  • Breaks

MENTAL

  • Control distractions like phone, email, cubicle chatter
  • Strategic priority setting for long-term results
  • Reskilling
    • Technology 
    • Leadership
  • Education: on campus, online
  • Reading

EMOTIONAL

  • Deep breathing, massage, yoga
  • Mentoring
  • Attitude adjustment: looking for the good, expressing appreciation, positive spin
  • Communication techniques

SPIRITUAL

  • Cultivate a life of meaning and purpose
  • Set priorities and allot time based on talent (enjoyment), mission and values
  • Participate in religious or spiritual activities
  • Take time for introspection and/or meditation
