Negotiating a Date

Business never happens at a networking meeting; first we have to get together. So, when a new acquaintance appears worthy of the next step, invite them with a three-part negotiation script:
  • You say why:
    • “Your business sounds interesting; I’d like to learn more.”
  • You say when:
    • "Can you meet for lunch at noon on Thursday?"
  • You say where:
    • "Do you know Mimi's Restaurant, near Perimeter Mall?"

Now negotiating is as easy as "Can't do Thursday, how about Wednesday," and, bingo! you're creating the connections that turn networking into business.
