In Honor of WomenUP 2008

Whereas,

The City of Atlanta is pleased to join in the celebration of WomenUP 2008, in recognition of International Women’s Day, a celebration that began in the US in 1975 and was formalized by the United Nations; and

Whereas,
|
The City of Atlanta honors the achievements of women in business who have both the knowledge and experience to excel in this highly competitive city; and
|
|
Whereas,
|
Atlanta Women’s Network, founded in 1979, has devoted nearly 30 years to equipping Atlanta women with tools for professional growth and personal enrichment, and through networking, building relationships and alliances to influence the future of this community; and
|
|
Whereas,
|
The membership of Atlanta Women’s Network epitomizes the best and the brightest of Atlanta’s professional women; and
|
|
Whereas,
|
The WomenUP celebration will recognize the success of women, particularly in Atlanta, will increase awareness of the changing business environment and will lay the groundwork for positive change in 2008 and beyond
|
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved that, We, the members of the Atlanta City Council, and on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, hereby recognize Atlanta Women’s Network for their support of Atlanta’s professional women throughout the year, but especially at this annual celebration March 6, 2008.
