AWN Committees

Communications –

This committee manages our Facebook, Linked In and Twitter accounts, promotes AWN events, manages the content for all AWN communications, creates and distributes our monthly emails to members, and publishes our monthly newsletter. It also manages the editorial content of our blog. Open Committee positions include:

  • Photography at our events
  • Social media outreach during our events especially via Twitter and Instagram.

Contact Angela Hemans, to get involved.

Community Outreach –

AWN has partnered with The Drake House, an organization that “provides short-term crisis housing, education and empowerment programs for homeless single mothers and their children in North Fulton.” Our committee chairperson, Lisa Burkard, coordinates a quarterly event or drive to benefit The Drake House. In the past we have helped on-site with cleaning and grounds-keeping, hosted clothing and gift card drives, walked in The Drake House Walk, and “Partied with a Purpose” at The Drake Closet, where there are “fabulous finds for the frugal fashionista.” To  get involved with The Drake House, contact Lisa Burkard, lisaburkard@spectrumgroupconsulting.com, to get involved.

Luncheon Coordinator

This is a new position this year and will help us identify greeters and table hosts.  We would like to get our members involved in this area.  We also need a committee to arrive early to luncheons and help with the set-up and check-in process.  Please contact us at awn@atlantawomensnetwork.org to get involved.

Membership –

The membership committee follows up with guests and actively invites potential new members to events. Members look for opportunities to enhance membership benefits, reach more Atlanta women, and increase overall member involvement. Contact Debra Jue, dbjue@us.ibm.com, to get involved.

Member Retention –

Our member retention committee members stay in contact with existing members to help them maximize their membership, identify new ways to serve them, and reach out to members who may not be participating at a high level.  Contact Alison Keels, lkeels@ups.com,to get involved and strengthen the AWN membership.

New Member Engagement –

This committee develops our new member orientation program and helps new members understand benefits, set up their profile, and integrate into AWN. Contact Angie Sims to get involved.

Professional Development –

Our professional development committee coordinates workshops and other skill-building events for our members. If you would like to get involved and bring more in-depth training to AWN, contact Diana Murphy. She is also seeking proposals from coaches and trainers on topics that might interest our members.

Programs –

Kimberly Petty coordinates all of our monthly luncheon speakers, orchestrates the luncheons, and ensures that we present relevant, quality presentations to our members. There are a lot of ways to get involved with programs so please contact Kimberly Petty.

Special Events –

Cocktail Hour Networking, Holiday Lights at the Botanical Garden, Sip & Shop, and Wine Tastings are just a small sampling of fun evening  events that our committee has put together. If you like new ideas, fun events, and socializing then email Diana Murphy.

Sponsorship committee chair –

We need a sponsorship chairperson too! The AWN sponsorship committee actively seeks new corporate and small business sponsors for our organization. It also evaluates requests for in-kind sponsorships. To become involved in sponsorships, please email Debra Scott at awn@atlantawomensnetwork.org.

Website –

The website committee is responsible for understanding our website, updating it, and assisting with new development. It also assists members who are having trouble registering, logging in, or navigating the site.  Let us know if this is your area of expertise!
