To help support The Drake Closet’s new store, AWN is holding a clothing drive during our February and March luncheons. Please bring used (but in good condition) women’s clothing items that can be donated to this fantastic organization.
PROGRAM: Connecting the Dots: Sharing your Passion and Skills for the Greater Good
Kim Nolte is the President and CEO of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential (GCAPP), a state level nonprofit organization founded by the actor, activist and philanthropist Jane Fonda. GCAPP’s mission is to improve the health of adolescents in Georgia by focusing on teen pregnancy prevention, healthy relationships, physical activity and nutrition. Since GCAPP’s inception, the teen birth rate in Georgia has decreased 64%.
Kim will share her experience working in the nonprofit sector and how businesses can work with nonprofits to go further faster.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: Kim M. Nolte,
President and CEO
Kim is a nationally recognized public health professional with nearly 30 years of demonstrated leadership, results, and commitment to adolescent health. She is a forward thinking leader with the talent to go beyond the numbers to visualize the full strategic picture and translate the vision, mission, and core programs to attract partners, allies, and funders at the national, state, and local levels.
Kim began her career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala working with Maya Indians. It was that two year experience that transformed her life and ignited her passion for public health. As a Peace Corps volunteer, Kim saw firsthand how civil war, poverty, lack of education, limited access to health services including contraceptives, affected children, families, communities, and an entire country.
Kim has dedicated her career to improving the health of children and their families. She has designed and managed international, national, and state strategies to improve health outcomes adolescents and their families. Kim has worked for two academic institutions, a non-profit, a managed care organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before coming to GCAPP in 2007 to serve first as the Vice President of Programs and Training. The GCAPP board appointed Kim as President and CEO in September 2014.
Kim is a skilled communicator and is able to inspire and reach diverse stakeholders across cultures and languages to address health and teen pregnancy prevention as they relate to economic and social development, poverty, and academic achievement.
Kim obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Hispanic Language and Literature from Boston University and her Master of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist.
Kim has lived in Spain and Guatemala, is fluent in Spanish and has studied four other languages including Mam, a Maya Indian language. She is a lifelong dancer and has performed with flamenco and Brazilian samba dance troupes. Currently Kim is working towards a black belt in Taekwondo.

The AWN Meal for our luncheon this month is Parmesan Crusted Tanglewood Farm Chicken Breast, Baby Spinach Salad, Kalamata Olives Artichokes, Tomatoes, Cucumbers and Pastini Pasta, Aged Red Wine Vinaigrette with Sweet Oregano and as dessert Fresh Raspberry Eclair, Vanilla Creme Chantilly. You can choose if you would like the AWN lunch, the gluten-free or vegetarian option.
